Results
To understand the sources of the pollution, the spread of pollution from ports, wastewater treatment plants and estuaries will be modelled. Comprehensive maps of hazardous substances distribution and sources in the eastern Gulf of Finland will be prepared.
One of the most important expected results of a cross-border research project between Estonia, Russia and Finland is the development and implementation of indicators to determine the impact of hazardous substances in the eastern Gulf of Finland, which can later be used for monitoring and environmental status assessment in other areas of the Baltic Sea.
